My gmail should only be being opened by myself, at one IP: we just moved and this is a private home line. I am horrified to think that this is somehow shared since my work involves religious and political beliefs, and considers sensitive topics: I am also worried about the illegal entry into my email which has personal and employment info, registrations etc. Why would this IP show all over the country? In particular places where I know we've been hacked? If these address variations are getting on my accounts, it means they are ruining thousands of hours of hard work and research. What is going on?

I think you're misunderstanding our search results. The IP address to Location mapping is mostly accurate to the city level. We use several IP Address to Location data providers, and display their results. As most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) service multiple cities, sometimes the IP address may be mapped to wrong location. ISPs use DHCP to dynamically assign IP address to their customers, so you may have received an IP address from your service provider, Comcast. If you reboot your router, you may get a different IP address depending on how DHCP is configured on Comcast.

This is perfectly normal as data providers are constantly updating their database to accurately map IP address to the Location.

Best Regards,
